Ramapo Anesthesia Announces Move To New, Larger Location In Suffern Ramapo

April 28, 2010

April 28, 2010 – Suffern, N.Y. – Ramapo Anesthesia (R.A.) announced today that it will consolidate its three current Suffern offices into a more spacious location that will accommodate its expansion as one of the fastest-growing anesthesia services providers in the Northeast.

The new 5,500-square-foot Suffern location at 100 Route 59, Suite 105, combines R.A.’s administrative, billing and pain management offices under one roof. An expanded staff of more than 25 professionals will relocate to the new site, which is scheduled for a grand opening in time for R.A.’s 40th anniversary in August.

The move will provide R.A. much-needed space to expand its infrastructure, including installing new computer systems and enlarging its billing office, as well as augment its professional staff in administration, billing and quality assurance.

“We have recognized the need to build our infrastructure in order to match the tremendous growth we’re experiencing,” said R.A. President Richard Clarkin, MD. “Not only will this enable us to support our thriving current practice, but it will also serve as a platform to sustain continued growth and launch future advancements.”

Since Clarkin assumed leadership three years ago, R.A. has tripled its number of physicians on staff. The growth was facilitated by the hiring last September of Administrator Cheryl Wolf, with whom R.A. leadership had worked with in her role as vice president of physician relations at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y. and other regional healthcare facilities.

Clarkin and R.A. Vice President Neal Kurtti, MD previously handled all administrative functions, but the addition of Wolf allowed them to bolster their efforts to attract top-quality physicians. As a result, more than 20 physicians have joined R.A. in the past six months.

“I am thrilled to join the group and to be able to help continue the growth R.A. has recently experienced,” said Wolf, who has 20 years experience in the health care industry, including the past 10 in hospital administration. “Dr. Clarkin saw the need to diversify and expand, and his vision is being translated into a higher level of care for R.A.’s patients.”

Among the key professional staff members added during the expansion is Linda Daly, a registered nurse who assists Kurtti with the management of the Quality Assurance Program. Created by R.A., the program is ahead of industry-leading standards and features regular chart reviews, peer assessment and bi-annual performance evaluations. The program also monitors patient treatment including whether or not treatment results in patient discomfort, or requires additional medical attention. The Quality Assurance Program helps R.A. continually monitor and evaluate the quality of anesthesia services provided to all patients at the facilities it serves.

R.A. has been long recognized for providing the highest level of quality care to patients. Multiple times, the renowned group gained national acclaim, earning the coveted “Five Star Excellence Award” for its superb anesthesia services, rated by the physicians they work side-by-side with. The practice has also developed a solid reputation for its tireless commitment to quality care and also earned national recognition from the Committee on Continuous Quality Improvement and Peer Review as one of the “top 1% of the Quality Assurance Programs in the country.”
